We Plan to Donate $500,000 to This Year’s Paid for Grades Student Incentive Program!
We at Chargebacks911 believe we have a responsibility to the community we call home. One of our main efforts to spur positive change in the community has been Paid for Grades, a student incentive program created by Chargebacks911 COO Monica Eaton in 2013. Now, as Chargebacks911 Training Content Development Specialist Jaclyn Lannon explains in a new feature for WTSP, we’re excited to take Paid for Grades to the next level in 2021.
10 Tampa Bay is a broadcast channel that has served the Tampa Bay area since 1965. They’re known for the award-winning investigative reporting of the 10 Investigates team, while also presenting important news and weather updates to keep Bay Area viewers informed on a daily basis.
As Jaclyn outlines, Paid for Grades is a not-for-profit effort founded by Chargebacks911 COO Monica Eaton in 2013. The program offers cash incentives to students as a reward for improving their academic performance.
“[Monica] was noticing that there was a lack of confidence in students,” Jaclyn explains. “What she wanted to do was pair with local schools to help incentivize the kids to push themselves to improve their grades and, therefore, gain a sense of confidence in their own abilities.”
We work with local schools to identify at-risk students and enroll them in the Paid for Grades program. Participating students are then paired with a tutor who works with the student over the course of the program semester. Those who show improvement in their grades and reading scores, and who also maintain excellent attendance, receive a $500 cash prize. There are also incentives offered to the tutors and schools, making the program a “win” for everyone involved!
We’re pleased to announce more than 500 students from across Pinellas County are enrolled in the Paid for Grades program for the 2020-21 school year. And, as the program continues to grow, we’re looking forward to carrying this momentum on for many years to come! Check out the full clip below:
