Chargeback to the Future: Chargebacks911 at Money20/20 USA 2025
Money20/20 USA stands as the world’s premier stage for payments and fintech innovation; a place where the future of money is unveiled. In 2025, Chargebacks911 took attendees on a journey that was out of this world—and time.
Following the success of its award-winning “Haunted House of Payments” booth in 2024, Chargebacks911 returned to Las Vegas with a bold new concept: “Chargeback to the Future.” The immersive, Back to the Future-themed booth transported visitors through the past, present, and future of payments, complete with neon lights, a life-size DeLorean photo experience, “Great Scott!” giveaways, and interactive data dashboards that visualized the evolution of chargeback management.
By blending pop-culture nostalgia with cutting-edge technology, Chargebacks911 didn’t just attract crowds—it rewrote the timeline for what experiential marketing can achieve in the payments industry.
Objectives
The goal of the 2025 campaign was to strengthen Chargebacks911’s position as the global leader in chargeback prevention and post-transaction risk management.
Key objectives included:
- Increasing brand visibility and reinforcing Chargebacks911’s reputation for innovation and thought leadership.
- Generating qualified leads and increasing booth traffic compared to the previous year’s performance.
- Creating an emotional connection with attendees by using humor, storytelling, and nostalgia to make complex topics approachable.
- Extending engagement beyond the event floor through social media buzz, influencer posts, and post-show coverage.
Strategy & Planning
Building on the creative foundation of its 2024 “Haunted House of Payments” booth — which explored the darker side of post-transaction risk — Chargebacks911’s marketing and design teams set out to create a contrasting experience for 2025: one focused on light, innovation, and possibility.
The concept began with a simple question: What if merchants could see their chargeback future—and prevent disputes before they ever happened?
From that spark, the “Chargeback to the Future” campaign was launched. Planning highlights included:
- A pre-event marketing campaign teasing the theme through retro-styled “time-travel”
graphics, countdown emails, and social posts. - Strategic partnerships with key payment networks and technology providers for
integrated demos inside the booth. - A themed photo activation featuring a full-scale DeLorean, fog effects, and a glowing “flux capacitor” centerpiece, encouraging attendees to share photos using #ChargebackToTheFuture
- Gamified experiences, including hourly prize drawings, branded scratch-offs, and “temporal trivia” challenges to sustain booth traffic.
- Thematic costumes and collateral, with team members dressed as Doc Brown and Marty McFly while delivering product demos
Execution
The exhibit unfolded across three interactive “time zones” of payments evolution:
- The Past – A nostalgic look at the early chaos of chargebacks, dubbed the “Wild West of Fraud.”
- The Present – A dynamic space featuring live dashboards showcasing real-time dispute data from Chargebacks911’s unified platform.
- The Future – A luminous tunnel representing AI-driven automation, proactive data
sharing, and the next generation of fraud prevention.
Onsite execution highlights included:
- A 30-person cross-functional team representing sales, marketing, product, and executive leadership.
- A VIP DeLorean Lounge for partner and media meetings.
- Hourly prize drawings to maintain energy and engagement throughout the event.
- Omnichannel storytelling, connecting in-person engagement to the company’s broader digital campaign, including teasers, livestreams, and recap videos.
