Monica Eaton Says Creativity is an Elusive, yet Powerful Force
Chargebacks911 COO Monica Eaton was asked to offer her insight on creativity and time management in a recent feature for the Hive blog.
The mission of the folks at Hive is to improve workplace productivity for companies by delivering an innovative platform for centralized workflow management and insights. Since 2015, the company has grown to serve thousands of teams, becoming one of the most widely-discussed companies in the US among investors and venture capitalists.
As noted in the piece, it can be a struggle sometimes to try and channel your creative energy. “You can’t unleash creativity via force. It just doesn’t work that way,” Monica says. Instead, she suggests that you should find ways to be more strategic about your time, describing creativity as “the art of finding new connective pieces and associations.”
She goes on to discuss the importance of testing your ideas and reevaluating whether you need to adjust. Creative thinking is great for its own sake, but translating creativity into business success involves more than simply turning your imagination loose.
“You need to have a way to test your creative theories, because not every novel, creative idea will ultimately improve your ROI. Some creative ideas, alas, work much better in theory than actuality,” she says.
