Monica Eaton, Founder and CEO of Chargebacks911®, was recently asked to share her thoughts on travel security in a new feature for HuffPost.
HuffPost reports with empathy, putting people at the heart of every story. In the piece, reporter Jaime Stathis warns about the surprising danger of using the USB ports on the backs of hotel TVs to charge your phone while traveling. This practice may open you up to identity theft or malware on your device.
“There’s always going to be an element of risk in our day-to-day lives, and the goal of cybersecurity is risk mitigation,” Monica says in the piece. “There might even be situations when it makes sense to expose yourself to increased risk because the benefits outweigh the potential harms.”
However, as Stathis explains, the temptation to use those USB port for the sake of convenience is one temptation you should always seek to avoid.
