We’ve received a handful of reports in recent weeks about scammers falsely claiming to be representatives of Chargebacks911®.
These bad actors target individuals who have been recent victims of other scams. They may reach out, claiming to represent Chargebacks911 (or another chargeback services platform or company), and claim that they can help victims recover funds lost due to cryptocurrency or other investment scams. They may have a compelling and professional presentation, outlining the process for helping the targeted individual recover their funds.
THESE ARE NOT LEGITIMATE OFFERS. Representatives of Chargebacks911 will never reach out to consumers with an offer to help recover funds lost to misrepresentation scams. By engaging with these bad actors, you may be opening yourself up to additional losses.
The scammers may use the trade names of Chargebacks911, as well as other chargeback services platforms or companies, to appear legitimate. Other red flags include unsolicited contact, promises of unrealistic results for fund recovery, pressure to respond quickly, and refusal to communicate by phone.
Remember: you are your own best defense against impersonation scams. Be cautious when sharing information with and responding to an unknown person or unsolicited offer, whether by telephone, email, or post. If you believe you have been contacted by a scammer, or are the victim of fraud, you are encouraged to report it.
