What Should We Expect From Online Fraud in the New Decade?

Monica Eaton of Chargebacks911® Weighs in for Newsmax

Chargebacks911 COO Monica Eaton explores what the future holds for the eCommerce space into 2020 and beyond in the latest installment of her monthly column for Newsmax.

Newsmax is a leading news outlet for personal finance and related topics. The site covers a diverse range of topics including health, finance, world news, and much more.

The digital marketplace evolved substantially in the last ten years, and there is still much more disruptive change on the horizon. But, as Monica points out in the piece, fast-moving, disruptive change can also lead to problems. “Just as new developments in the market create opportunities to grow revenue and improve service, they also introduce new challenges,” she says. “Some of these obstacles may be surging instances of already-identified threats, while others could be new fraud tactics entirely.”

In the post, Monica points to some of the leading threats facing the market, including BOPUS fraud and abuse of loyalty programs and subscriptions. The core of the problem is customer expectation. The solution: taking a dynamic view of eCommerce.

“We need to embrace the fact that cyber threats are constantly evolving, and doing so faster than we can respond to the problem. We can’t keep up with new threats, which is why we can’t build out solutions to problems as they come. Instead, we need to take an adaptable and responsive approach.”
