Major Regional Newspaper Offers Tips to Help Stay Safe Online
Chargebacks911® COO Monica Eaton appeared in a recent edition of the Reading Eagle, a major newspaper in Eastern Pennsylvania. Appearing alongside Adam Levin (Chairman and founder, CyberScout) and Jerry Beilinson (Electronics Editor, Consumer Reports), they offered tips and insight to help consumers defend against cyberattacks.
Internet Breaches are a “Certainty of Life”
Cyberattacks are an increasingly-mundane part of life. With so much activity wrapped up in the digital environment, it’s hard to imagine a world without online security risks.
Protecting consumers from cybercriminals is a critical job. However, it can’t be left to law enforcement or technology providers. Consumers need to take on a role to help protect themselves from threats posed by attackers. As author Debbie Carlson says in the news feature, “a good defense is as important as a good offense.”
The expert panel assembled to offer tips and insight seems to agree with the sentiment. "You have more power than you think," Monica says, referring to consumer behaviors online that may reduce—or increase—risk.
"You have control over clicking on links in email and what programs you use,” Monica explains. “The reason why (hacking) works is it's human nature to be curious."
