Chargebacks911 COO Monica Eaton has been selected as one of the global fintech thought leaders to be featured as part of a new industry initiative, the Fintech Diversity Radar.
The Fintech Diversity Radar—launched in 2021—is the world’s first global platform gathering progressive data on women in fintech. Developed by the folks at Findexable, who provide a real-time ranking of global cities that are home to communities of fintech companies, the purpose of this platform is to understand their impact and contribution to the digital economy.
Monica is already a member of the Fintech Diversity Radar Advisory Board. In addition, Chargebacks911 is happy to serve as platinum partners of the Fintech Diversity Radar. As Monica alludes to in her interview, this is all part of a broader commitment to fostering diverse voices in the payments space.
“I think with age, you appreciate some of the challenges that you have as opportunities to get stronger,” Monica says. She alludes to the fact that, as a young woman in business, she often lied about her age to avoid prejudice, while also feeling insecure about her educational background.
Monica also explains that, as a person with her identity and background, she felt a lack of the “instant credibility” that others enjoyed. “I had just to realize: what is my goal here? My goal is to get this deal done,” she explains. “I have confidence that I can succeed, I can perform, I can do a better job than anyone else in my entire arena. But, in order for me to get that opportunity, I have to first get through the door. And, if the door is closed because I’m the wrong sex, then I need to figure out how I can get that open.”
These experiences would go on to shape Monica’s attitudes about diversity in fintech. They would motivate her to do what she can to help uplift others on their journeys to success.
