Chargebacks911® COO on the Role of Robotics in Order Fulfillment & Delivery
Chargebacks911 Co-Founder and COO Monica Eaton shares her insight on how robotics and AI may change the last 50 feet of the delivery journey in a new guest feature for MHI Solutions magazine.
MHI Solutions magazine, published by Naylor Association Solutions, is the official quarterly publication of the Material Handling Industry. The magazine keeps readers abreast of news and events in the manufacturing and supply chain industry. MHI Solutions addresses technological advances impacting the overall supply chain and offers first-hand insight on common challenges and expert advice geared to manufacturing and supply chain professionals.
According to Monica, we can trace current moves to improve efficiency in the last phase of fulfillment to a broader push for convenience in the digital market. This can create stress on other facets of the process, though, if not handled properly.
“When you consider changing consumer demands, robotics satisfies those demands almost impeccably," Monica says. "There’s no way to achieve the necessary scale and efficiency needed for deliveries without technology."
Monica suggests that the widespread adoption of new technologies is, fundamentally, a positive development. However, it can easily cause unforeseen problems if not handled effectively.
"I do think that there’s more upside than downside…But we still have a lot to do to figure out what needs to be done to reduce the risk that comes with it."
