Dating App Users Face Increased Risk of Romance Scams as Downloads Spike on February 14

Monica Eaton, Founder and CEO of Chargebacks911® and a globally-recognized security expert, was asked to weigh in on the threat posed by romance scams in a new feature for The Express.

The Express is “one of Britain’s most famous and trusted news brands,” having informed and enlightened British readers for more than a century. The paper currently has a daily print circulation of more than 100,000.

Each year, millions of new users install dating apps in the lead up to Valentine’s Day, hoping to find romance. But, these individuals also open themselves up to potential attacks from scammers hoping to prey on their longing.

“If the person refuses to speak over video or meet in person, there is a high chance it’s a scam,” Monica explains in the piece. “Also people should never entertain a money request from anyone they are engaged with online and never share personal and sensitive information.”
