Monica Eaton & Don Bush Offer Expertise for ATPS Virtual Panel
ATPS, or the Airline & Travel Payment Summit, is one of the year’s premier events for merchants in the travel space. Of course, ATPS needed to held remotely this year due to COVID-19 concerns. But, as part of the recent event, representatives from Chargebacks911® sat in for an interactive discussion on how airlines and travel companies can best manage current chargeback challenges.
Monica Eaton (CEO, Chargebacks 911) and Don Bush (VP, Sales & Marketing, Chargebacks 911) participated in the discussion alongside Jean Adadevi (Sr. Consultant Finance Solutions & Product, Lufthansa Systems). The hour-long discussion yielded some surprising and valuable insights for those contending with chargebacks against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Monica advocates taking a measured approach to chargebacks. This calls for setting clear expectations for consumers as a key fundamental to one’s strategy. Merchants should also be cognizant of the expectations placed on them, as well as their rights and responsibilities, especially when standards can change from one country to the next.
“For businesses…it’s super helpful with policies to have an understanding, in each country, of what types of government aids are available to help consumers,” Monica says. “Then, understand what types of rules are available, and be willing to communicate this. I guarantee you there’s no government who’s going to provide funds to pay a consumer twice for a transaction they didn’t actually have.”
After the initial presentation, Monica and her fellow panelists answered questions from the audience. This allowed for real-time interaction between the presenters and those viewing at home.
