Monica Eaton, a world-renowned expert on eCommerce and FinTech, recently spoke with Sam Mire of Disruptor Daily about how blockchain technology can revolutionize online business.
Monica’s fellow experts each brought a unique perspective and skillset to the discussion. For example, Eligma CEO Dejan Roljic brought up the point that blockchain enables better tracking not just of transactions, but of goods themselves. As he put it, blockchain can simple, secure transactions not only for megaretailers, but for “those who would like to occasionally sell or buy second-hand goods from the comfort of their homes.”
Others point out that blockchain can improve efficiency and reduce costs. According to Tanya Yablonskaya of ScienceSoft, blockchain “eliminates the need for intermediaries in the payment process, meaning simplified processing, faster transactions and no transaction fees.”
For her part, Monica brought up the point that blockchain’s utility doesn’t end at checkout. The blockchain platform can be invaluable in the event of a customer dispute.
“You need to access detailed customer information in order to respond,” Monica explains. “Processing the necessary transaction data can be done with a fraction of the time and manpower if you’re using a blockchain system.”
