Monica Eaton on the Origin of Chargebacks911
Monica Eaton, Co-Founder and COO of Chargebacks911, was recently asked by CEO Nation’s Blog to explain how she and her partners came up with the name ‘Chargebacks911’.
CEO Blog Nation is a community of niche sites for CEOs, entrepreneurs, and business owners through blogs, podcasts, and video content. Started in much the same way as most small businesses, CBNation captures the essence of entrepreneurship by allowing entrepreneurs and business owners to have a voice. CBNation curates content and provides news, information, events, and even startup business tips for entrepreneurs, startups, and business owners to succeed.
As part of CEO Nation’s ongoing studies about entrepreneurship, the next logical step was a deeper examination of the thoughts and processes involved in branding: business names, branding, and mottos. CEO Blog Nation asked 25 executives to weigh in on this topic. In the process, they uncovered many surprising results.
“When I named my company Chargebacks911 eleven years ago, it was an inside joke,” she said. “Since it was painfully clear that online merchants desperately needed an anti-fraud emergency hotline, we would be their 911 call for chargebacks and disputes. Who you gonna call… Chargebacks911!”
“Unfortunately,” she laughed, “When we became an international company, a new challenge emerged: Every country has a different emergency hotline phone system, and non-English speaking countries didn’t always understand the connection!”
