Chargebacks911® COO Advocates for “Internet Bill of Rights”

Monica Eaton Says Legislation is Necessary in a New Interview for Fox & Friends

Chargebacks911 COO Monica Eaton is an outspoken advocate for greater and more up-to-date consumer protections in the digital space. In a new feature for Fox and Friends, Monica speaks to the need for consumers’ constitutional rights to reflect the realities of contemporary life.

Fox & Friends is an American daily talk program that airs on Fox News. The show features a variety of segments touching on topics including current events, interviews, news stories with correspondents, political analysis from the hosts, and entertainment segments.

As Monica points out in the piece, the rules and regulations guiding how we approach concepts like autonomy and privacy in the digital space haven’t really kept pace with innovation. “If we take a look at the core issue today it really has to do with…the lack of updated rules and regulation,” she says.

As a solution, Monica proposes a kind of “Digital Bill of Rights.” This would allow us to update our understanding of privacy and consumer protection for the Twenty-First Century. She also notes that this should not be a partisan issue, and should also involve the input of tech companies to ensure that the standards are fair and realistic.

“This is an updated Bill of Rights, really created to protect consumers. It isn’t a situation of a ‘Democrat’ issue or a ‘Republican’ issue; this is an American issue that is derived from American values.”
