Monica Eaton Offers Advice for Aspiring Leaders
Chargebacks911 COO Monica Eaton provided her insight on what questions to ask during a performance review in a recent feature for UpJourney.
UpJourney is a site focused on publishing articles, courses, and books that can teach readers how to improve their lives. They use positive guidance to help readers achieve goals, improve their communication skills, and ultimately, find their life purpose.
As part of their latest roundup, the editors at UpJourney asked a number of successful professionals to share their input on what questions employees should ask during a performance review. Each participant brought a unique perspective and response to the question.
“When conducting performance reviews, I’m always impressed by employees who take the initiative to ask me what I think they can improve on,” Monica explained.
This makes a key impression, as it shows that you’re engaged, take your work seriously, and have a desire to grow and improve. These are all attributes that employers look for when determining who to promote into positions of leadership. Plus, this positive embrace of constructive criticism pays dividends for the business as a whole.
“Their active participation in the discussion shows me that they respect my opinion and are willing to make changes if necessary. I’ve also found that individuals are more receptive to constructive criticism or feedback when they are the ones who first initiate it.”
