Monica Eaton, Founder of Chargebacks911, was asked to share her insights and expertise in a recent feature for The Enterprise Times.
The Enterprise Times is an outlet that aims to deliver a mix of news, features, blogs and podcasts covering the information technologies used by enterprises. The editorial team has over 130 years of experience both as practitioners and writers covering the changes in the technology market.
This year saw record sales in the US eCommerce space. However, as Monica warns, some of the efforts that merchants took to attract holiday shoppers may lead to an increase in chargebacks in subsequent weeks.
“When businesses stretch their marketing budget or payment options too far during the holiday season, they fail to allocate any spending toward the annual spike in chargebacks merchants face in the first quarter of the year,” Monica warns. “Many of [these chargebacks] may be fraudulent.”
Some merchants have tried to curb losses by by shortening return windows, or by reliance on technology. As Monica notes, however, innovation is a better solution.
“Merchants need to tackle the growing complexities and challenges of dispute management. This requires ongoing innovation. We are dedicated to powering chargeback management for global eCommerce businesses and financial institutions at the highest possible level.”
